It's greatest treasure is the water meadows, running along side the river Stour. These ancient pastures surround Sudbury, with circular walking routes for all appetites. HORSE RIDING: Close by in Lt Cornard there's the fanfastic Paso Finos Rancho Pavo Real The River Stour Trust is slowly returning the river to being fully navigable from Sudbury to the Sea and run boats trips and other activities with an education centre 10 minutes walk away. CANOEING: The Stour is suitable for canoes & rowing boats. For the adventurous, with portage round locks and weirs it’s negotiable to the sea, 24 miles away. GREAT bargains to be had at Cornard Secondhand Shop Thomas Gainsborough born in 1727 at the house which is now home to the world's greatest collection of his paintings & drawings; Gainsborough's House open Mon - Sat 10am - 5pm. LAVENHAM is only 6 miles away, the historic centre of the Wool Trade, possibly the finest example of a Tudor town in the UK Lavenham Guildhall There lots of other historic wool villages close LONG MELFORD is 2 miles away with Kentwell Hall and Melford Hall and CLARE (7 miles) Clare Priory all wonderful places to vist. Sudbury 's famous SILK Mills Stephen Walters and Vanners both have factory shops offering beautiful fabrics at great prices. An enchanting Norman castle is just 5 miles away Hedingham Castle a fun visit for all the family RAILWAY heaven Colne Valley Railway Britain's second biggest railway museum. WATERING holes Pubs and places to eat Restaurants and Waitrose supermarket is 10 minutes riverside walk away.
